DEVOTION OVER DOGMA: 29.5 Day Challenge for Witches & Pagans
Struggling to build intimate deity connections? Desiring to grow spiritually, but can't seem to get in the groove? This 29.5-day Challenge just might be the answer to your pagan prayers.
This has been a little baby of an idea floating around in the noggin for a while... And once I started creating it, it changed shapes so many times. It didn't fall into place until Lilith appeared.
The Dark Mother is my inspiration and muse for this project. She asserted Herself and wanted to be a part of this - so of course I made room for Her. (what else was I gonna do lmao)
DEVOTION OVER DOGMA was created to...
- help you align with your truest, most authentic form of spirituality, wherein your own Sovereignty is the #1 priority
- facilitate opportunities for us to encounter The God Shadow - & more importantly, give us the highly personalized tools to face it head on (final boss here we commmeeee)
- ignite the spark of Bhakti - devotional, pure, unconditional love - for the Divine; which always ends in devotional, pure, and unconditional love for humanity
Why 29.5 Days, Exactly?...
The moon is on a constant cycle of around 29.5 Days. While this course is totally self-paced, the intention is that wherever you are & whenever you begin - on a New Moon, Dark Moon, Full Moon, or somewhere In Between - you will have completed a full cycle, ready to begin anew.
So what's the "challenge"?...
- To push yourself in your deity practice;
- Create daily/weekly rituals that serve a purpose, and that you'll likely return to through the course of your witchy life;
- Illuminate "The God Shadow" and implement highly personalized solutions;
- Un-gunk your connection to deity;
- Discover your personal mission statement for your witchcraft and deity practices.
Why I Created This Challenge...
While reflecting on my own journey, I had a major realization. The biggest contributing factor to me finally embracing my craft, and then later my natural affinity for the Dark Divine, was learning about Eastern traditions, which then catapulted me onto a path of self inquiry - almost to the point of madness.
I'd go back and forth and back and forth, all with the best of intentions, trying to find capital-T-Truth. It wasn't until I met Lilith, and accepted Her for who She is, that I could finally let go of the dogmatic, authoritarian perspective that I didn't even realize I was holding onto.
We rarely see the value of our experiences until they're over and done. This was no different for me. All this time - all these 5 years of various spiritual practice and labels and books and languages and all the overwhelming, crazy-making directions you can be torn into - I never saw the beauty in what was happening to me. What was happening within me.
I was untying the knots of dogma.
Discovering how other cultures view gods, reconcile polytheism in their own systems, and view the illusive idea of "salvation" warmed me up to the idea that the stuffy, judgmental, and frankly boring version of God that I grew up with didn't have to be my God. And that in itself was a big fucking deal y'all.
The key to undoing the dogma I grew up with was exploration.
I didn't see my path this way until recently. I wasn't "lost" all these years; I wasn't "floundering around" like I would jokingly, shamefully say when describing my "religious beliefs" to anyone. I was going through a process - a process of mourning, healing, letting go, and then - not until I was like SO READY - finally learning what it means to be free.
This challenge is designed for witches like me. Witches who...
- Grew up in an authoritarian religion/system.
- Feel lost in the undertow of all the "spiritual truths," and don't know what to believe.
- Struggle to believe in any form of the divine, even though they want to.
- Get stuck in their deity practices due to fear of failure
- Are trying to discover the spiritual path that will help them heal instead of fostering more fear and confusion.
